1. REMINDER — GENERAL APPLICATIONS DUE APRIL 1st
All professors who would like to teach part-time have the option of filing a "General Application," which enables you to be considered for any course for which you are qualified that is posted within a 12-month period. Don't forget to attach an updated C.V. to your electronic application.
Here is the University of Ottawa link to file your General Application.
Click on the tab that says "Apply Without Postings"
For further information pertaining to the hiring process, you can visit the FAQ section of the APTPUO's website:
Question #15 relates to General Applications.
2. KEEP TRACK DEFERRED EXAMS FOR PAYMENT
You are entitled to receive a payment of $150 each time you prepare an exam questionnaire which your department uses for students who have permission to write a deferred exam. Keep track of how many of these exams you submit, and check your pay stubs. Some departments are not diligent about making these payments.
Note: in order to receive the payment you must submit a final grade. So even if the student does not show up, you should submit a grade change form, which changes the grade from "DFR" to "INC."
3. BE PREPARED WITH EMERGENCY NUMBERS
In class and during exams, have important numbers at your fingertips, such as your department contact number for exams that take place outside of office hours. Also, the UO Protection Services emergency line is 613-562-5411 — enter it on your cell phone contact list!
4. TRAINING FOR ACCESSIBILITY AND ANTI-HARASSMENT
By law, the University of Ottawa is required to provide mandatory training on accessibility and anti-harassment. Part-Time Profs will be notified soon by the University to pass its online training modules. Stay tuned!
